Ethos 

At Sompting Village Primary, our ethos is summarised by a simple phrase, which the children and adults have in mind always:  BE YOUR BEST.

These three small words encompass such a lot and are supported by Sompting’s ABC:

AMBITION: everyone is striving their very hardest, to achieve their very best in everything they do. 

BRAVERY: facing unexpected, or unusual, or everyday challenges. 

CARE: making a difference every day – a difference for ourselves, a difference for others and a difference for the world around us.

We want our children to reach their absolute potential and be decent human beings throughout their lives.

By following Sompting’s A, B, C, they will be able to do this.  They will BE THEIR BEST.

Mission

At Sompting Village Primary, our mission is vital:  to know every child well and to provide for each of them in the best way we can, academically, socially and emotionally.

We achieve this through an honest, open dialogue with the children and their families, through a mutual respect and through a combined trust. 

We achieve this because the adults who work at Sompting Village Primary listen, care, will tell the truth and will challenge the children. They also smile (a lot!) and have a sense of humour. Essentially, they carry great compassion with them each and every day.  They believe!

Vision and Values

It is our vision that every child leaves Sompting Village Primary School ready to rise to and make the most of the challenges, expectations and opportunities of the rest of their lives. 

It is also our vision that they take with them wide-ranging, positive memories to last them a lifetime.

The children will leave Sompting Village Primary School attaining their absolute potential – both as humans and as learners – and will always strive to be their best, even when life is at its hardest and they have to be brave.

We want to set them up for great outcomes when they take their GCSEs (and higher levels of qualifications) and when they eventually enter the working world.

At Sompting Village Primary School, we take time to know each child as well as we possibly can, to talk with and listen to the children (and their families) and to provide them (and their families) with the guidance and support they need to face everything that life throws at them. 

A Summary

In summary, the children at Sompting Village Primary School:

-feel safe and secure

-believe in, care about and are interested in themselves, others and learning

-are challenged and inspired and have been exposed to worlds beyond those they experience at home

-are given firm foundations so that they may achieve their full potential when they take their GCSEs and onwards into the rest of their lives

-are - and will remain -  decent human beings
