Assessment and Outcomes

At Sompting Village Primary School we are dedicated to ensuring children reach their potential and achieve the best outcomes they can to enable them to make a positive and successful transition into secondary school and beyond. We strive to prepare them for the challenges of their futures both within and beyond the classroom.

To support children’s development through Sompting Village Primary, use of quality assessment enables our teachers to identify children’s strengths and provide appropriate support, where needed, to ensure all children reach their potential. Assessment occurs informally during all lessons and informs teacher’s decisions ‘in the moment’ about how to get the best from everyone. Additionally, there are points during the year when more formalised assessments occur, including statutory assessments.

Statutory assessment points include:

• Year 1 Phonics Screen Check
• Year 4 Multiplication Times Tables Check
• Year 6 SATs and Teacher Assessments

We are hugely proud of the progress that all children make during their time at Sompting Village Primary, which reflects both their hard work and the dedication of all the staff who work here.
